Lehigh County, Pennsylvania Inmate Search

Lehigh County inmate search helps interested persons find information about persons held at the county’s correctional facilities, either awaiting trial or serving a sentence. Inmates in Lehigh County jails, as well as the jail facilities themselves, are under the supervision of the Lehigh County Department of Corrections (DOC). This department is headed by a director of corrections, while individual jails are overseen by wardens. There are no BOP-operated jail facilities in the county.

Juvenile offenders from Lehigh County are held at correctional facilities in surrounding facilities and are directly under the supervision of the DOC. Inmate searches are not available for juvenile offenders, as juvenile information is not public under state law. Adult inmate searches are available through a central DOC jail roster and can be used to retrieve an inmate’s full name, aliases, basic physical description, name of their DOC holding facility, etc.

How to Find an Inmate in Lehigh County Jail

Both jail facilities in Lehigh County-the Lehigh County Jail and the Community Corrections Center-use the same Inmate Locator tool. This website furnishes users with incarceration-related information about any inmate under the supervision of the Department of Corrections, regardless of the county where the jail is physically located. Note that this tool is limited to jail facilities within Pennsylvania.

An inmate search requires an inmate’s last name or inmate number. If an inmate’s last name is common and the inmate number is unknown, a search may return multiple search results. A person can expedite the search by providing additional information, including the inmate’s date of birth, country of citizenship, first name and middle name, and/or the agency name.

For more information (especially since the online jail roster scarcely covers the details) or to verify information obtained online, contact the Lehigh County Jail or the Department of Corrections at

How to Use the Lehigh County Jail Roster

To perform a search using the Lehigh County jail roster, officially known as the Inmate Locator, one needs to have at least a last name or the inmate number. If these are readily available, visit the Inmate Locator tool and apply the following steps:

  • Enter the inmate’s last name in the specified field, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Search" button.
  • If the searched name is as common as a John or a Smith, it would help to search by the inmate number, as this limits the search result to the inmate of interest. Otherwise, the searcher would have to scroll through several inmate names to find who they are looking for. If the inmate number is handy, enter it in the appropriate field and click on the "Search" button.
  • If the inmate number is unknown, entering other known inmate information in the appropriate spaces provided will help trim down the search result. Relevant details include the inmate’s first and middle name, gender, date of birth, and country of citizenship. Click the "Search" button afterwards.
  • On the result page, locate the name of the inmate of interest and click on their inmate number to open a detailed view

Lehigh County Visitation Rules and Schedules

Inmates at the Lehigh County Jail receive visitors on a 3-day rotating basis according to their housing unit assignment. While the above applies to general population inmates, inmates in administrative segregation are allowed a 30-minute visit once per week. Visitations are via telephone while visitors and inmates can view each other through glass, as physical contact is not allowed.

Note the following visitation rules:

  • All visitors 18 years and above are required to present a valid government-issued photo identification that shows their date of birth, e.g., a passport, medical assistance card, or driver’s license. Failure to provide appropriate ID may result in a visitor being admitted into the jail.
  • Visitors are required to know the inmate’s identification number and full name in order to expedite the visitation process.
  • Inmates are allowed a maximum of two visitors at any given time (including a child or baby).
  • A particular visitor can only visit once per day.
  • Visitors below age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with an original birth certificate that names the visitor or the inmate as mother/father.
  • Visitors under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to reach an inmate.
  • Provocative or questionable dressing is not allowed. Hats (except religious headwear) and outer garments (jackets, coats) are not to be worn during a visit.
  • All visitors are subject to search upon entry into the facility.

While attorneys and other law enforcement officers may visit inmates at any reasonable time (although the preferred hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays), official visiting hours are as follows:

Monday through Friday:

12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Saturday, Sunday & Holidays:

8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

N/B: Although largely similar, a different set of visiting rules applies for inmates at the Community Corrections Center.
